Rep. Omar’s public statements concerning her views of Israel have voters on alert. In a 2012 tweet, Omar said, “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” In a May 31 tweet this year (2018), Omar referred to Israel as an “apartheid regime.” She has also demanded an end to the “occupation” of East Jerusalem, apparently not understanding that Jerusalem is considered the eternal capital of the State of Israel, and not “occupied territory.”
Combine these statements with the fact that while serving as a Minnesota state legislator, Omar opposed and spoke against a bill to condemn anti-Israel boycotts. So far from inspiring hope in residents of the Fifth District that she would be objective and fair in representing the district, Representative Omar generates fear and extreme concern.
There is ample evidence in her words and actions, on many topics, to justify our utmost caution this November when voting for our U.S. Representative. Hopefully the residents of the Fifth District will resoundingly condemn and reject her views.
